Before you shop
What we cannot accept
Storage is tight and guest safety comes first, so a few categories have to be a no.
- Opened or partially used hygiene products
- Expired or home-canned food
- Soiled, torn, or heavily worn furniture and mattresses
- Large appliances and electronics without prior arrangement
- Weapons, alcohol, or medications
- Anything bulky without a call first — we may not have room
Arranging a drop-off
Call or text (937) 935-4292 before you come so a staff member can meet you. Drop-off addresses are listed in our site footer, but hours vary with staffing.
Donation questions
- What items does Peak of Hope Shelter need most?
- Our urgent list is published on this page and reviewed regularly by staff. Items marked urgent are ones we are actively out of or nearly out of.
- Do you accept used items?
- It depends on the item. Each item on this page states whether it must be new, new in packaging, or whether gently used is welcome. Hygiene items and mattresses must always be new.
- What can't you accept?
- We cannot accept opened hygiene products, expired food, damaged or soiled furniture, or large appliances. Storage is limited, so please call before bringing anything bulky.
- How do I drop off a donation?
- Call or text (937) 935-4292 to arrange a drop-off time. Calling first means staff are there to receive your donation and it goes straight to a guest who needs it.
Short on time?
A financial gift lets staff buy exactly what is short today
When the list changes mid-week, flexible funds fill the gap the same day — no sorting, storage, or shipping required.
